I hand select some of my pros picks, add some of my own, and set about the epic task of researching and writing up only the most relevant information in the most easy-to-understand way - so you get the benefits of all the research and knowledge without any of the legwork.

5. STRATIS [STRAT]

May was a rather busy month for Stratis. They launched both the alpha version of the Stratis Smart Contract C# platform, as well as their ICO Platform, and sponsored a hackathon event in Delaware. 

BACKGROUND

Stratis is a smart contract platform which can be used by customers to build their own blockchain applications based on their open-source code. The platform gives freedom for many use cases, such as scientific study transparency, product tracking, data recording of IoT (internet of things), and identity management. 

UPCOMING EVENT

Stratis will soon launch the mainnet for their full node setup, Breeze Privacy Protocol, academy courses, and sidechains 

THOUGHTS

Stratis is one of those quality projects that always seems on the cusp of something big. Statistically, there’s more chance of that ‘something big’ happening the more time progresses. 

4. STAKENET [XSN]

 The World’s First Trustless Proof of Stake Coin

StakeNet have recently released their whitepaper and has redesigned their logo. 

BACKGROUND

The focus of Stakenet is to bring staking to a whole new level by ease of use, security, profitability, and innovation. Transactions run through Lightning Network and masternodes. The goal is to create a network of merchants that accept the currency, and replace old technologies with something that average users can easily pick and use without a great learning curve. 

UPCOMING EVENT

This month, Stakenet is working on dedicated masternodes, allowing cold staking on Ledger Nano S, updating to Lightning Network to allow near instant transactions and lower fees, launching StakeNet.io website, and updating to Segwit implementation. 

THOUGHTS

Just got listed on Cryptopia again and is already uptrending. In my opinion, XSN is a long term play. The masternodes are still cheap and the new roadmap and whitepaper are A1.

3. WANCHAIN [WAN]

 Distributed Infrastructure for Digital Assets

CATCH UP

Wanchain seems to be dipping back to its support level. Last month Wanchain launched their explorer 1.2.0, and were also listed on Huobi. 

BACKGROUND

Wanchain seeks to connect blockchains and exchanges throughout crypto space, enabling any blockchain network to interact with another. A use case example would be setting one’s own virtual teller window and providing services like credit payments, transaction settlements, loans, and cross-chain trading. Essentially, it will be a blockchain-based “super” financial market 

UPCOMING EVENT

Wanchain 2.0 will be released by the end of June with support for Ethereum. They will also be releasing a multi-coin wallet 

THOUGHTS

By the end of the month they will release Wanchain 2.0. This is one of my ” long-term holds, and I believe it will be in the top 10 sometime this year. 

2. ARK [ARK]

 All-in-One Blockchain Solutions

Last month Ark attended and sponsored CoinDesk’s Consensus event in New York City, which gathered more than 8,500 cryptocurrency enthusiasts. The team also had a private room where they were able to present side projects such as Blockport and Persona. 

BACKGROUND

Ark aims to create an entire ecosystem of linked chains. By being highly flexible and adaptable, it allows products to be adopted by the general public. By having open source code, it is available to anyone who wants to contribute, or to build their own blockchain based on Ark. With a new block created every 8 seconds, its transactions are incredibly fast! 

UPCOMING EVENT

Instead of having a roadmap organized by deadlines, Ark has a list of objectives they’re seeking to implement in their blockchain. The implementations currently happening are a virtual machine built upon Ark, Ark Core v2.0, push button deployable blockchains, deployment of testnet bots for start-ups, and much more. 

THOUGHTS

I could talk about the strong fundamentals, including ARK CORE v2 (at 75%), but TA tells it all. ARK under 40k sats is a bargain. The next two months should be fun (for alts in general). 

1. DECRED [DCR]

 Autonomous Digital Currency

Decred is one of the few coins that hasn’t felt the gravitational pull of the bears as much as the rest of the coins have. It keeps breaking records again and again since early May. 

BACKGROUND

One of the weaknesses of many cryptocurrencies is how they suffer with scalability and destructive forks. Decred is an autonomous coin where stakeholders have governance power to decide on innovative changes in the network, disincentivizing forks and scalability issues. This allows for seamless transitions from one set of rules to another. Decentralized decision making is the core value of Decred 

UPCOMING EVENT

During the course of this year, Decred wants to give SPV wallet support, allow users and stakeholders to make proposals through the Politeia voting system, implement Lightning Network, create a smart contract that will decentralize the control of developers’ funds, and much more. Decred looks unstoppable. 

THOUGHTS

 An undervalued gem. It gets more and more recognition by the day.
