Introduction and Project Overview

This post marks the first step in an ambitious journey to document the development process of a version 2.0 to the trading bot which I created months earlier to serve as the primary trading tool for my company, Genesis Investments.

To explain this project I think it's best to start with some background about who I am, and what Genesis Investments is. My name is Andrew Schmidt, I'm a senior Computer Science student at Michigan State University, and the co-founder of Genesis Investments. I have a passion for blockchain technology and I hope to someday contribute to the research and development of blockchain solutions to solve complex problems in a variety of fields. My company, Genesis Investments, is a full service cryptocurrency investment company founded in early 2018 by myself and a business partner of mine, Josh Nassau-Young.

Our company is still in the very early stages, and we have a long way to go before our company becomes what we believe it can be. Probably the most important aspect of any investment company is profitability, and along the journey of creating this trading bot, that is exactly what we are trying to maximize.

When I proposed the idea of collaborating with others on the development of this trading bot, I was met with skepticism from others who felt that collaboration would compromise the competitive advantage of keeping the trading strategies of our company a secret. I understand this sentiment, and over time our company will certainty adopt strategies which won't be made publicly available, but in this early stage of development I feel that collaboration is the best bet to build a solid foundation for future success because I understand that if this bot is to reach it's peak potential, that the ideas behind it's operation can't solely be my own.

Summary

To recap, over the course of the following weeks and months, I hope to start a community here on SteemIt to share my personal journey in the creation of this trading bot, and to collaborate with others throughout this development process to maximize the profitability of trading strategies. I will build guides to help others follow along, as well as publishing the bulk of this code to Github, in the hopes that others can share in the profitability of sharing ideas in this development process.
