You are right about the dependency on a platform. Ethereum is my favorite. Leadership plays an important role. I also want to point out that NEM (XEM) is a quiet performer. It has outperformed BTC and ETH for the past year. Check out my analysis here:

I'm a fan of NEM too. I know its price has been going through a bit of turbulence for a bit but it is a solid platform with an amazing future ahead. Another platform to watch. Thank you!
