WHAT IS RIPPLE, WHY IS IT SO VALUABLE AND SHOULD YOU INVEST IN IT?
WHAT IS RIPPLE?
Ripple is a form of virtual currency that currently enables P2P (peer to peer) online transactions. This is also known as one of the many altcoins that is an alternative to Bitcoin. You can register for a wallet via crypto currency exchanges such as - Bitfinex, Binance, Bitrex - and many other exchanges as well to purchase some units of ripple.
However the original design of ripple never was oriented towards the common folk, Ripple conversely to bitcoin is aimed at big financial institutions such as commercial banks for faster international and inter-bank transactions.
BANKS THE MAIN CLIENT OF RIPPLE?
Yes. Currently most of the demand for Ripple comes from financial institutions from south east Asia such as S.Korea or Japan, countries that are known for leading the world with their innovative technology to which crypto currencies fit in perfectly.
Opposite to many other alternative crypto currencies ripple does not aim for a distributed decentralized, non-government involved P2P transaction system. Ripple goes exact the opposite way by facilitating the current centralized transaction system only further contributing by reducing the cost and time for the transactions in motion.
IS IT WORTH THE MONEY?
According to coinmarketcap as of now Ripple is the second largest crypto currency by market capitalization and rivaling Bitcoin itself.
Current market cap:$130 billion
price per coin: $3.38
Average daily volume: $8,318,100,000
While the price of a Ripple coin may seem laughable just a little over 3 dollars make no mistake in concluding that is is not worth your money, this is not the criteria for your final investment judgment. If your are looking at Bitcoin and saying that is way more valuable than Bitcoin due to a higher price per coin and basing your investment judgement upon it your'e missing out big time.
Your ROI (return of investment) is determined by the percentage change in the price of a coin, it has nothing to do with a higher price of a coin. The reason why Ripple's price is much lower than Bitcoins' is that the total circulating supply of Ripple is 99,993,093,880 XRP where Bitcoins is just 16,782,525 BTC.
The way you determine the market capitalization of a coin is you multiply the supply of a coin times price per coin (supply x price = market cap.)
The reason some people may look away from ripple (or look exactly at it) is the price of Ripple may seem low and those willing to invest in it think that if the price is just 3$ it can go as high as bitcoin to 15 000$ or even more, but that just is mathematically impossible due to the reason given above of calculating the market capitalization.
