Beginner Cryptocurrency Investment Information for Ripple and Stellar
Why Ripple and Stellar look good for long term holds, partners Amex and IBM
I got involved in cryptocurrencies a few months, and have been focused on learning as much as possible. It gets confusing, there is a lot of information out there! If anyone can recommend solid sources for current events in the marketplace, your comments and insight would be greatly appreciated.
If you are here, you probably have heard of Ripple and Stellar. If you are a beginner, here is a little info that might be helpful. Also, I came across an article on the Motley Fool website which was very useful and summarized here for you.
First, let's differentiate between coins and tokens. Super simplified analogy: if blockchain is the highway, then coins are the cars, and tokens are like trailers attached to cars. Tokens sit on coins, facilitating additional features. Tokens are not mineable. Although they are traded, it's important to understand the basic difference. They add function to a coin.
Ripple is a token. Its purpose is to improve verification process payment times that go through traditional banking channels. American Express has announced it will use Ripple's blockchain technology in a real world test. In the consumer banking world, American Express's use of Ripple will add a huge trust factor for those entering the crypto market, which is great news that will propel its price point.
Stellar is also a token. Unlike Ripple, it is not focused on big banking - it is aiming at the enterprise market and mass scalability. Recently IBM partnered with Stellar to increase cross-border transaction times in the South Pacific. Stellar + IBM = increased consumer confidence, again adding to the token's value long term.
Ripple and Stellar are looking very promising for the long term with their new partnerships.

Prefer Stellar myself. Ripple is to centralized for my liking. Big banks will be using it soon. Ripples bubble just burst quite a bit. News is very biased. Research is not. Good post @cryptonitegirl
Hi @kbakadave, really glad to hear your thoughts, will keep that in mind. Thanks!
