I converted some of my altcoins to BTC yestereday and moved them to Bittrex. I would have just left them in my Kraken account where the funds originally were but Bittrex announced the 1:1 payout of bitcoin cash to bitcoin holders a bit before bittrex sent out the notice that they'll support the fork in the same manner for longs.

I think Kraken sent their notice out about 2 hours after I moved all my bitcoin from there to Bittrex. You snooze you lose! lol.

People who are holding bitcoin with any amount of margin funds or are short bitcoin need to read the announcement very carefully as different exchanges are handling these more risky positions differently. I'm not currently using margin and have only done so in the past to short stocks and ETF's. I don't advise anyone to short crypto currencies unless you have a lot of money, really know what you're doing, and are very disciplined / set tight stop losses on your trades.

Hopefully us longs will come out ahead after this fork. I have a feeling it's gonna be a wild ride for a few days at least after August 1.
