Coss journey #3 : Fee split for Sunday, December 10, 2017

Allright everyone, Tuesday just went, the fee split is available in the dashboard so it's time to look at the weekly dividend payout.

Quick recap of the past 2 weeks

On Dec 2, this post on r/cryptocurrency got a lot of people interested in COSS and the dedicated subreddit r/CossIO/ saw a big increase in membership right after.

(stats from redditmetrics )

If we look at the historical data for COSS trading across markets from coinmarketcap we see a clear surge in volume that was sustained for most of last week :

Volume on COSS is a good indicator to judge broad interest in the token but can't used to predict the exact amount of weekly dividends since these depend on the whole trading volume done on coss.io.
Coinmarketcap has daily values for volume exchange but it doesn't seem to provide the historical data like it does for coins. If anyone has been keeping track of daily volume or has access to the data please leave a comment. Thanks !

Total payout

From that increase in volume, a rise in dividends was expected. Did this happen ?

First calculation I made indicated a payout of 0.000053 USD per COSS held. That's a nice increase from the previous week when the value was 0.000047 USD per COSS held. Here's the evolution for the past 4 weeks :

A 13% increase in dividends is nothing to sneer at but I was expecting a bigger rise. Looking at the COSS dashboard, I saw that the calculation seemed to have been updated (some weeks it stayed exactly the same) and indicated 0.000061 USD per COSS. Where does that difference come from ?

In my first estimation I had used the market prices at the time of the snapshot, and the price of Ethereum was around 500 usd at that time. On Tuesday it was already over 650 USD and going towards 700 USD so clearly what time we choose to compute the value of the weekly dividends has to have an impact.

Anyway here's what we get if we add the value of the payout with Tuesday's prices next to the value with Sunday's prices :

New value is now 0.000062 USD per COSS held, much closer to the dashboard. That's 32% jump, even better news !

Now if we also have to consider that COSS also increased substantially from Sunday to Tuesday, it becomes clear these price estimates are tightly related to the market and have to be taken with a grain of salt..

Here's the weekly payout depending on the number of coins owned at snapshot using the dashboard value :

COSS heldWeekly payout in USD
1 0000.061
2 0000.123
5 0000.307
10 0000.614
20 0001.229
50 0003.072
100 0006.144
200 00012.288
500 00030.720
1 000 00061.441

What's in the fee split ?

As usual, COSS, ETH and BTC make up for most for most of the fee split :

Around 57% of the total is available in ETH or freely convertible to ETH (BTC, LTC and DASH for the most part). And out of the 42 % that have to be distributed at a fee, you'll get mostly COSS for now (around 90% of these 42%).

For more info, read my last blog post looking at the evolution of the coins in the payout for the last 6 weeks.
