PHISHING is Real... How the hackers almost got me!

Phishing is a REAL Threat to the Crypto World. Uptill now I used to dismiss hacking, and phishing as something that couldn't happen to me. The online fraud I had seen were the mails from a prince from an exotic country, telling me how he wants to 'donate' his wealth to me and I should 'help' by verifying my bank account.

But Phishing neah... that can't happen to me.

Only a few days back I heard a news that Coincheck, one of the biggest exchanges in Japan, was hacked. I wondered how's that possible?

I created my MEW walltet and it splashed a pop up on my face, trying to force me to read all that security stuff: Check the htpps thing, exact spelling of the MEW domain and so on.... Ah, what a waste of time, I thought...

... And then yesterday I received a mail.

It's from DADI ... the ICO everyone has been talking about. The crowd sales has already begun, oh sweet! I gotta get in too...

I don't particularly remember giving my email to them, but hey the mail says it came from Dadi.co - seems legit. Right? There you go, I will now click on the Big Green button.

... and click I did.

BAM!

It doesn't look like Dadi's website. I was greeted with a big red screen, now what's that ? Is it stupid chrome blocking me again?

Oh my, my. Generous me who spared out two minutes from my schedule and checked read through the message. It was my MetaMask chrome plugin warning me to not venture into this trap. I had no idea there was a pishing fiter built into the MetaMask plugin. How handy!

I quickly googled DADI and found out that their real site is https://dadi.cloud/. Dadi.co isn't even up guys! Somebody is just using it for sending Pishing emails.

I went back to the original mail and clearly saw the red security mark against the SSL certificate.

Damn me! I was almost caught...

Guys, I am telling you, if you have not been very serious about the security yet, it is time now you do.

PISHING is Real, and it can happen to anyone. Particularly to you because you are so full of yourself that nothing can touch you... but here I am caught off-gaurd completely.

Lesson Learnt: Don't click on the emails, go visit the site yourself. Use the bookmark if you are a lazy being.

STAY SAFE. Guard your Crypto as if your life depends on them.
