First, I want to apologize because I wasn’t very active in the last few weeks. It was because I got a job in the construction sector. And you know how this sector is tiring... especially if you work as a small student maneuver. So, in short, I was too tired to write anything. But hopefully (or not), my contract ended yesterday, so I am now awake enough to pick up the pen!

Introduction

One month ago, I wrote an article where I said that I will create a complete Linux machine that support hardware wallet, gpu/cpu mining and high end gaming. All features had to be turned into console mode. In clear, no terminal lines. A very exciting project in fact, but it’s impossible for me to achieve. This article is here to speak about that.

Multiple causes

First cause : SteamOS

SteamOS is another great project but it’s in beta state. Which means that bugs can occur or installation may failed. In fact, I’ve tried to install this Linux distribution on two different computer. And on both cases, the installation successes but the boot failed… Then I modified a fresh Debian by adding Valve repositories and by adding multiple Steam components (very long and complicated). Again, installation successes but booting failed but this time with a different error (black screen instead Steam logo screen). It’s hard to say but I dropped...

Second cause : Don’t manipulate electronics when you are tired

Last Thursday, I wanted to test an emulator Linux distribution on my orange pi one. So, I burnt my SD card and I connected power supply. But, it was a special power supply. You can choose the voltage between many different (3V, 4.5V, 5V, …) with a tiny yellow button. And in this case, the power was set to 12V … Before connecting, I did not check the voltage. I saw a wonderful blue lightning and I felt a terrible smell of burnt. RIP my single board computer. My orange pi should have been the cryptocurrency wallet.

Third cause : no time

In a few days it will be back to school, first year of university for me. I have no idea how much free time I will have and therefore no idea how much time I could spend on this project. I prefer to promote my studies rather than an idyllic project.

Fourth cause : lack of help

I am unfortunately unable to complete a project if people are not with me to motivate me, help me, criticize me. Everyone to his personality, that's what you'll tell me.
But in addition to that, my meager salary as a construction worker and computer science student. I am also not able to invest more than 1000 € in an uncertain project.

Conclusion

Sorry but life is a series of broken dream (here, it must be a tragic music). I hope that I will continue more seriously the project in one or two years with a solid team.
