Just Steemit (Do it)!

I have been involved in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for several years now, and I've heard of Steemit for over a year. And yet I only started to get involved in the last week. Why?

I loved the idea of a blogging platform that rewards you in crypto. But I put off learning how to use Steemit because of all of the complicated concepts and terminology. STEEM vs. STEEM Power vs. STEEM Dollars. Witness nodes - what are they even?! The murky and largely undocumented realm of Steem mining. Powering up and powering down. The list goes on!

I kept telling myself that I'd take a few hours to read up on Steemit... next weekend. Well maybe next weekend... you get the idea.

Finally I decided just to take the plunge. I might never understand everything about Steemit's byzantine ecosystem, but I sure won't learn anything by sitting on the sidelines. And I knew that this wasn't a failed cryptocurrency experiment, because I saw that so many people were actually using Steemit!

For the last week I've been upvoting and posting comments on articles that I liked (really an easy thing to do since I have a passion for reading cryptocurrency news). Why read and comment for free on Reddit or Bitcointalk, when I can get paid for doing the exact same thing on Steemit?

Just today I woke up to an awesome surprise:

I got paid in STEEM Power and STEEM dollars! W00t! And at this point, I've only been active for a week, and have only commented on posts that I enjoyed! Sure, my reward isn't huge, but I would have read and commented on crypto blog posts anyway.

Also, I really do believe that Steem will be the next big thing as more and more people find out about it. 1 Steem Power today could be worth $10 or $100 in the future (I'm not just being overly optimistic - I bought thousands of DASH when it was only $2 each, and that has changed my life now).

Don't worry about the complexity of Steemit. Don't feel that you can't get started posting and commenting unless you understand everything about it. I still don't understand most of the rules and best practices. But I have already earned some STEEM Power and Dollars for just commenting. And I've learned a ton just by doing it. Go forth and do the same, and I'll see you on Steemit!
