Civil, The CVL Token, and Cutting-edge Journalism
a still from a Civil promo video
What's Civil?
I've been stoked about Civil all year. It's an experimental new way to fund quality journalism on the blockchain, and it's the most interesting crypto project I've heard about in quite some time.
As a Steemian, you're already familiar with the approach: just as Steem, Steem Power, and Steem Dollars work together to incentivise and reward quality content creation and moderation right here on Steemit, so too will Civil and the CVL token incentivise and reward quality journalism.
From directly rewarding quality content to challenging low-quality content, or even managing content licensing or starting your own CVL-backed newsroom, the Civil team has been hard at work implementing their vision of journalism in the crypto age. They've written a constitution to guide their experiment, developed their First Fleet of newsrooms, and will be launching their CVL token in an ICO this Tuesday.

ZigZag
ZigZag is the latest podcast from Manoush Zomorodi and Jen Poyant, previously of Note to Self fame. They've painstakingly documented every step of their process of launching their own newsroom on the Civil platform, and packaged it into a delightful podcast that just concluded its first season. Be sure to check it out for insider interviews and the personal side of participating in this experiment.
