Blockchain is to Cryptocurrency what the Internet is to Website
It is surprising how bitcoin and cryptocurrency seem to have more media value over blockchain. Like seriously? Well, before you crucify me for that statement, by 'value' I actually mean media mentions. Scroll through your feeds on Reddit, Steemit or YouTube and for each post on Blockchain, you will find 5 other posts on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies. I like to believe the whole crypto craze rides on the back of Blockchain. I can bet, in the last one year, you've heard this more times than you've had an oven fresh bread in the last 10 years but hey, you will hear it one more time: Blockchain is the future. I strongly believe this.
Blockchain is to cryptocurrency what the internet is to websites.
I have my fears about Blockchain. Fears inspired by the very essence upon which Blockchain was established: decentralization and trust. One of the major reasons we trust(ed) banks with our money was for security reasons. If we lack the capacity to protect our physical cash, how then do we protect or digital currency?
There is a staggering amount of people who believe blockchain is just a bubble. The world is yet to agree unanimously on any new technology. The internet was labelled a bubble in it's early days. It has stood the test of time and as such, convinced every human with a head standing firmly on a neck, that it was never a bubble. I hope Blockchain does same in a couple of years.
The world would never be a perfect place, just like every technology or institution. Given the existence of hope, we can only aspire to perfection and Blockchain, at the moment, is an advocate of perfection.
With all the frauds traced to the cryptocurrency and crypto-jacking, fake ICOs and scam binary options investment not helping the situation, I like to see these as the early challenges that come with any new revolutionary project. Just like the credit card frauds of the early days of the internet could not drawn the veracity of the internet, Blockchain would survive all these challenges before it.
