Steemit: A gateway to cryptocurrency in Ghana

Although Cryptocurrency is quite popular in Ghana, there are still many people who are yet to take advantage of it. I believe steemit is the best platform that is actually a gateway not only to steem, but the entire blockchain system. Although there are other platforms that leverage cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology, Steemit is the singular largest platform in the country that allows people to create and curate content while earning on the side. It has made such an impact and is radically increasing the number of people on the blockchain system. More and more people are able to better understand how the blockchain sytem works especially it is easier for everyday people to do. And this is good news not just for the steem but also for the entire blockchain network.
I’m particularly excited about how steemit is transforming the lives of people in the country. It serves as an additional source of income in a country where the unemployment rate stands at 11.9% and so many live on less than a dollar a day. Thus, they get to put their creativity to good use.
In addition, the humanitarian impact that steemit especially has had on many lives in the country is simply fantastic. Several lives are being impacted. From providing school bags to deprived pupils to providing slippers to children in some rural communities. People like @mcsamm, @steem4thepoor and @anaman (to name a few) have been very instrumental with the support of @ackza.
However, these positive trends are not without their setbacks. The most prominent of which is the low level of internet permeation in the country. Although the country has one of the highest level of internet penetration in the sub region, with as high as 35% of the population having access to the internet, we still have a long way to go (source). A lot of this has to do with lack of access to the required devices, bad connectivity, low network speeds, data costs are also serious hindrances in their own right.
I'm glad that it's here to stay and that its just the beginning of GREATER things!!
