Thats hilarious. Their gov crashed the finance markets and stole all values from the folks and now they will do the same again with petro.
I am not sure about that... if they do new issuances with another order of magnitude, like with the Petro Oro, they could actually eliminate their debt and be a worldwide player in the crypto-space.

But there still the same problem.
Who made the petro? Its in the hand of the same people who controll the financials.
Blockchain doesn't matter if it is not decentralised. So the code can be changed every time.
And i don't think the code is open source to check whats going on?
I think Venezuela does not control anything at this point... This is the first serious attempt to get some control again...
There are many blockchain-technologies that can be used... I am not sure which they will be using, but there is no advantage for them to use something that is closed source... So I guess i will be some token on an existing blockchain like NEM's mosaic (no idea regarding NEM) or ERC20-tokens, or an independent blockchain and using the other tokens just for exchange.
