portfolio modelling & info
cryptocompare.com - go to portfolios and look at examples
coinmarketcap.com

trading platforms: ps. you need to acquire bitcoins in order to start trading
www.kraken.com - better service
www.poloniex.com - easier to use

I know people trading on 4/5 platforms, so you can find out what platforms your choice of currencies are tradable on from coinmarketcap.com

cashing out - very important
http://www.coinbase.com - from the trading platforms, you can make withdrawals to coinbase in Ethereum or Bitcoin and have the funds sent to your (verified) bank account within 24 hours.

long term storage
exchanges aren't advisable to store your investments. If you intent on holding a currency for more than 6 months, it's best to have a private 'wallet' (find out from coinmarketcap.com or the currency's website) so that you won't lose out IF ever the exchange gets hacked.

Correct! Thanks @sono.arquetip - Hard wallets rather than what I've labelled as 'Private' wallets are safest - keep them offline & track your portfolio value via the suggested 'sample' portfolio management sites.
