Matchpool: The First Incentive Driven Social Network Based On The Ethereum Blockchain

As the cryptocurrency space grows in popularity, one will find a number of projects that are aiming to push cryptocurrencies to the next level. I take great interest in following the developments of these projects, because like many others in the crypto-space, I want the space to succeed. With this in mind, I have come across a project that I believe perfectly captures the potential of cryptocurrencies. It is with great excitement that I introduce to you Matchpool, the first Ethereum based social network.

What Is Matchpool?
At its core, Matchpool is a decentralised matchmaking platform, built on the Ethereum blockchain, that helps participants match with each other. Individuals are matched based on common interest. So, if you are seeking a particular type of interaction or service, then Matchpool will connect you with others that can provide you with the interaction or service that you so desire. Being built on the Ethereum blockchain, the platform utilises smart contracts that handle matchmaking, participation, reward structure etc.

A Closer Look:
Matchpool enables its users to create a group, or ‘Matchmaking Pool’. The owner of these pools, also known as ‘Poolmakers’, have the opportunity to earn rewards for matching members within their pool. As well as creating a Matchmaking Pool, users can also be members of pools themselves. A user can get involved in any pool that they so desire, this allows them to find a person or service that they may require.

PoolMakers
As a Poolmaker, you have a lot of options regarding how you run your pool, you can:
• Set entrance rules
• Configure your revenue streams
• Configure settings for pool members

Matchpool also incorporates a reputation system into the platform. This enables a user to make an informed decision as to which pool to get involved with, based on the reputation of the Poolmaker. As a Poolmaker, as your reputation as a matchmaker increases, the temperature of your pool will also gradually rise. Thus, the higher your temperature, the more reputable you appear before your fellow users.

Tokens
Matchpool utilises the Guppy (GUP) token to facilitate the internal reward mechanism. Any user interested in creating their own pool must first place a GUP deposit, this will be returned upon the closing down of a pool. More importantly, Poolmakers can earn GUP by successfully matching pool members, or by having an entrance fee or subscription fee to their pool.

I am personally very excited with what this project has to offer. It’s strong model is supported by a group of talented indivduals. The cryptocurrency space is still very much in its nascent years, it is only with truly innovative projects that this space will be able to revolutionise the way we live in the outer world, and a part of me believes that Matchpool really is such a project.
