Cointelegraph Fails To Be A Champion To Women In Crypto.

This week Cointelegraph posted an exciting article discussing the increase in women investors in crypto while highlighting their positive investing habits. The article explains how women are far less likely to feel FOMO and are more likely to consult with friends and family before investing. Where Cointelegraph went wrong was in the cover photo they chose for the piece. This depiction of women is so common that many of us view it and see no issue. I'll be the first to admit that I myself wasn't affected by this until someone pointed it out to me.

Women in business, and in society in general, are commonly depicted as nothing more than sexual objects. It's not that highlighting women's (or men's) sexuality is inherently wrong. The problem is that this depiction is THE norm and this entirely undermines all the relevant qualities women have that make them successful in countless industries. What Cointelegraph did here simply perpetuates the problem.

I don't believe that the Cointelegraph team realized their mistake while making it. My issue with them is their subsequent inaction to correct the situation. Many of us have commented to Cointelegraph about the poor choice of graphic. They now have a wonderful opportunity to change it and they seem to have decided not to.

Being attentive to issues such as these, regardless of whether they affect us directly, is an important quality for a society that wants to progress in a positive direction. I hope that Cointelegraph finally decides to make this right. I believe if we continue to reach out to them we can help effect this change.
