Benefits for Huobi Token Holders     

According to huobiglobal.zendesk.com holders of Huobi Tokens will be distributed Huobi Pool tokens, as a sort of dividend. So far Huobi has been splitting up its airdrops amongst miners and holders in a 2:1 ratio. 4 billion HPT will be awarded to community members in mining mode and 2 billion HPT towards all HT holders. Eventually Huobi will be airdropping a total amount of 10 billion Huobi Pool Tokens, of which 80% will go to miners and 20% to HT holders.   

Approximately 17.16 HPT per 200 HT have been distributed as of august 24, 2018 (GMT +8). This distribution was to holders, not miners. An amount of 42,916,241 HPT tokens have been distributed so far. 

Huobi will also do a monthly distribution towards miners. Huobi will be taking a snapshot of users’ HT assets outside Huobi Global at 0:00:00 (GMT +8) on a randomly selected day of the month and airdrop HPT to users holding more than 1000 HT. More info can be read here [1]. 

Once Huobi Pool Tokens officially lists on HADAX (which is expected to happen soon) those holding them can trade them against other cryptocurrencies on HADAX. 

Due to the nature of the 10 billion token airdrop, holding tokens can serve as an interesting incentive because more tokens will be airdropped to people holding over 1000 HT. They’re also interesting to miners to actively mine because there will also be airdrops to miners, in a greater quantity even than for token holders.  

Some other benefits listed on [2] Huobi’s own website are; discounts offered with a VIP system of up to 50% discounts, seasonal buyback by Huobi of portions of Huobi Tokens, HT exclusive events such as receiving coins newly launched on the Huobi exchange, an exchange that allows HT to be traded in USDT/HT, BTC/HT and ETH/HT pairs and finally the ability to let your voice be heard as a HT holder on token listing decisions. 

In a recent community voting period on Hadax Huobi pool tokens have gathered 10 times the votes required to meet its funding goals [3]. 

 

HPT awarding tokens back to its user base, to me seems like an attractive benefit that sets itself apart from other cryptos. It’s reasonable to expect it will safeguard from tokens being traded to USDT/BTC/ETH in the short term as the awarding of dividend will allow for investors to make a profit holding the tokens.  If you don’t have an account on Huobi, feel free to use my referral link:
