I think it gives us the best of both worlds. It gives us the ability to easily store bitcoin safely within government regulations, together with access to fiat transactions. But we don't have to if we don't want that.
Different people use bitcoin for different reasons. And, IF you trust the government not interfere with your bank account, it gives people more choice.
The only problem I can see is when the government makes it mandatory to register all your bitcoin holdings and pay tax on them. A bitcoin banking system will make it easier for them to do this.
