Seen this post in the trending section so I took the time to check it out. Seeing how much value it had accumulated I figured it would be worth a read. To my surprise wasn’t much to it, few paragraphs about market sentiment and keeping your head up.
Then I was reminded of how some people on this platform absolutely hate self upvotes. Well what do you call this madness. Don’t get me wrong it’s your money do as you please, but some one please explain why people aren’t as riled up about this as they are haejin?
Anywho just thought it was curious and wanted to know the thought of the community.
People are so damn uptight anymore that it's not funny. On one hand they complain about self upvotes but then they have their hand in the cookie jar somewhere's else. In my opinion reading down through the comments below , I saw to downvotes. If you have even one you may as well just saved your time and picked your nose as to put up an article because a downvote murders your post. That or they hide it. I can see if the post was trash but most aren't. Hell they ought to take the downvote button off. Get rid of the bots first off that people make because they are just statistic counters for lazy people. If you have a legitimate gripe leave a comment below the article and talk about it instead of just trashing posts that normally would be okay to most community members. It's kind of like mob rule out here. It's hard enough to try to get footing in this space without getting kicked by other members because unfortionately their opinion counts. Just a few thoughts I had.
Oh I’m with you. Does it not make sense to upvote good content then to waste a vote downvoting?
Things have calmed down quite a bit but still very annoying.

If this Steemonian makes profit from using the bid bots it would be a miracle. So I wonder why use this strategy?
Perhaps one of us should ask why so much money is send to the bid bots. Will you do that or should I?
I can be profitable if you time it correctly. With that being said, any round they participate in pretty much kills the profits for others
Yeah I can also make it profitable. Only if such a person comes in, in the last 2-3 minutes it could be killing your profit.

I just ignore the front pages of Trending completely. Sometimes i scroll down in the Hot section to see what's up, but anything at the top doesn't interest me. I rather look for smaller authors who make a serious effort. I find it's much more enjoyable anyway to interact with those.
I can agree with this to a certain extent. What about small author that put out good content that catches on?
It usually doesn't really catch on :-/

I've just posted my first post on steemit blog and really it's worthless without no one see it due to big whales.
Yes, I know.. It's really hard at first to even get noticed. It doesn't actually really start 'working' until you have about 500 or more followers, I've noticed. After that it gets better.
I would recommend you 'bond' with as many people as possible on this platform. Try to engage with them (like with your comment right now!) and they may end up following you.
Also, you may want to look into using vote-bots. They're kind of crap and it sucks to have to use them, but you can use them to get a nice boost in post earnings so your post shows up higher on the Hot pages (or god forbid, even the trending page - most posts on there are heavily upvoted by bots).

self upvotes is big problem on steemit!
I personally disagree with this. The whole purpose of gaining steem power is for more influence. Self voting makes your comments more visible and is a way to get a return on your investment over the long haul. I self upvote because it is so tough to get the community to upvote articles. I think this is more ethical than paying for a bot to vote you.
Understand both sides. If steemit didn't allow you to upvote and there was a back door trick then I would agree with you. However, it is an incentive of putting in an actual investment.
