Vegas City Board Interview

Following the communities' overwhelming show of support and successful approval of Vegas City's District Start-up Proposal, the Vegas City District Board have been quietly assembling a legal and technical frame-work to bring the Vegas City Start-up vision to life.

As previously promised in Vegas City's first ever post; it is with insurmountable enthusiasm that I provide the community a project update in the form of an interview with James Ashton (CEO) and Jess Ford (COO).

The article is structured in a question and answer (Q&A) format, so that readers are able to read James and Jess' responses untainted and verbatim.

So without further-a-do, over to James and Jess...

Q: Following the successful community vote on the start-up plan, what are the board's immediate actions?

A: "The project is deep in the process of formation. We are taking seed funding from DCG so we are working through the legal work necessary to get this venture set up. In parallel to this, we are developing the MVP for the district, where we are working with our resident 3D modeller and VR expert."

Q: What, if anything, can the board tell us about the start-up investors?

A: "As mentioned above, we are taking seed funding from DCG (who are the Digital Currency Group), a prolific investor of Crypto Start-ups.

Q: One question which seems to be puzzling some contributors is how does the relationship between Vegas City and Decentraland function?

A: "Vegas City is an autonomous entity and may take suggestions and best practices from Decentraland but it largely charts its own route forwards."

Q: How does the relationship between yourselves work (Jess and James)?

A: "It is very much a traditional business partnership between the two of us and we have highly complementary skill-sets (to one another) so often collaborate on the various projects and duties which lets Vegas benefit from the best that we both have to offer."

Q: Can you give us any teasers about what's to come for Vegas City in the short term?

A: "Our first casino and theatre have been created, called 'The Emerald Casino' and 'The Ruby Theatre'; these will show gaming and visual entertainment."

Q: Can you share any longer term targets for Vegas City?

A: "A long term target on the gaming side is the realisation of full multiplayer poker. This is more complicated to implement than a lot of other casino type games; and we are currently representing it in a project called 'The Poker Den'- which is being championed by one our contributors."

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to share with the community and/or contributors?

A: "We are working in order to allocate the equity that is to be received by the contributors. This is one of the end results of the legal work that we started. We cannot set timescales but we want it to happen soon as possible. These shares may take the form of paper equity, or we might wait and go down the tokenisation route. If we do it in 2018 - it probably means paper shares".

On behalf of the community, thanks are extended to James and Jess for finding time out of their busy schedules to provide an insightful and tantalising update.

James and Jess have also very kindly agreed to give further updates when there is key information to be relayed to the community.

Hope you enjoyed the read!
