RE: Alex Winter Of “Bill And Ted” Gives TED Talk Refuting Propaganda About The Dark Net

in #crypto7 years ago

I kinda wish he had been more aggressive about why we need privacy. He made the point, once, that we have bathroom doors. He didn't mention that we have trade secrets, business plans, and private lives as well.

How many businesses have been compromised, and the proprietary information they developed and relied on for their enterprise, been gained by corporate spies? Is it even conceivable that organizations that are enabled to spy on us in secret, that have created slang like 'love-in', which means to spy on your spouse or significant other, might be expected to NOT use insider information to enrich themselves?

It is not credible that the NSA, CIA, DIA, and etc., aren't going to abuse, with tragic results to the victims, this horrible power to know all our secrets. It is public knowledge that they routinely do abuse their power.

Alex didn't stress this enough, IMHO.

At least he brought the subject up. He's bucking the system to do it.

For that, I give him major props.

Thanks!
