Neon District
As a follow up of my article - Introducing Crypto-Puzzles, I'd like to have a closer look into Neon District as well as into the crypto-puzzle hidden within the whitepaper and website. Although it was the crypto-puzzle that first caught my attention, it also led me to learn more about the project itself, which is a game called Neon District.
The puzzle, the game, as well as the people behind it, are incredibly interesting, so I decided to extend my journey a bit and dive a little deeper.
Neon District Team
Neon District is fully funded by Blockade Games, LLC and is developed by a team of 10+ talented developers and creatives. Amongst the team is coin_artist and cybourgeoisie, which I only recently discovered, but are real cryptocurrency veterans.
coin_artist (Twitter)
coin_artist is the creator of the famous bitcoin puzzle "the legend of Satoshi Nakamoto". I stumbled upon one of the articles about the 50'000$ puzzles that got solved, which is how I learned about crypto-puzzles. But this isn't the only masterpiece that was created by coin_artist, who seems to be an incredibly talented, creative and intelligent person. Besides creating amazing crypto-puzzles, coin_artist is also CEO and co-founder of Blockade Games LLC and engaged as a Project Manager for Neon District.
cybourgeoisie (Twitter)
cybourgeoisie is another impressive person involved in Neon District and the creator of its Crypto-Puzzle. I discovered him when he announced Neon District and its hidden puzzle on Twitter (Link to Tweet). I then read about the 210-LTC Puzzle of Charlie Lee and zd3n, where he was a member of the team that solved it. After he discovered coin_artist through her legendary Bitcoin puzzle, the two worked on a Decred wallet explorer, which lead to cybourgeoisies recruitment to join the Project as lead developer. Furthermore, he holds the appointment of technical Lead at Blockade Games, LLC.
Neon District Game
Neon District is a hybrid role-playing and trading card game and wants to combine the best of card-based RPGs and online MMOs with asset ownership. The game sets in a cyberpunk dystopia and features 22 character types with different talents and weak spots.

Characters are leveled up by battling characters of other players. The combats are carried out in a traditional turn-based fashion and reward the players with experience points. These are then spent on the character attributes strength, utility or intelligence and allow characters to develop in a specific direction. In addition, there is a sub-path that can be chosen for each character once it reaches level 10. 22 characters, three character attributes and three sub-paths per character attribute allow for a vast variety character development. The most exciting thing about this game is the fact that the character information, as well as information about character development (Battles, XP Levels, Skills etc.), is stored as an ERC-721 Token on the Ethereum blockchain. Adding a whole new element in how characters/cards can be traded as well as how crucial character information is stored.
I'm very excited to see how this game develops in the future and can't wait to give it a shot myself.
