Hello Steemit!

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

To start off, I'd like to quote the most famous words of any programming tutorial ever "Hello World". Only in this case, it is "Hello Steemit"

I am Stefan, a technology enthusiast working in the computer science industry. I just entered the world of crypto and I'm extremely excited about it. To be honest, it is almost embarrassing, that I haven't seen the potential of blockchain earlier. When I had my first look at BTC at around 2014/2015 I found it to be interesting but didn't grasp its full potential.
The main problem was, that I just looked at it as a digital currency that is backed by cryptography. Unfortunately, I did not dig deep enough to discover the beauty and potential of the blockchain hiding behind the curtain.

The latest hype brought it back on my schedule, but this time, I would not let it slip.

So here I am, discovering Steemit, a wonderful and practical example of a use case for blockchain and cryptocurrency that illustrates the potential far beyond a simple store of value. Having this wonderful platform and finally realized how disruptive blockchain can be, it wasn't only time to start, but also to get involved and to give something back. Which is why I want to share my experience and things I learned in the form of blog posts on Steemit.

So... what can you expect?

Although my lack of experience in the crypto space itself limits my possibilities somewhat, I think my background in computer science is a huge advantage. Therefore, you can find a mix of content on this blog. I guess I will start off with the explanation of some basic concepts and how I experienced things when I entered the space:

  • What is BTC / Blockchain - Technical principle and why it could change the world
  • Where to get information - Books, Pages, People
  • How to store your coins - Core/Full Wallets, Light Wallets, Wallets on Exchanges and Hardware Wallets
  • How does mining work - the principle, on-premise mining and cloud mining
  • How to use Exchanges - Some exchanges I use and the difference between centralized and decentralized exchanges
  • Noteworthy Projects - Projects I invested in / consider interesting and why

After covering the basics, I plan to go for a deep dive on Ethereum. I want to find, implement and document a small showcase to illustrate how smart contracts can be used to build a decentralized application. I hope the showcase will be useful to explain different aspects of such a project (Commercial - provided Value as well as technical - how does it work).

Besides writing my own content, I also plan to actively participate in conversations or even post detailed answers to existing posts/videos as new blog post, to expand the conversation with my point of view/input.

So much for my plans...
I hope to find the time and I'm excited to get started and to be a part of the Steemit community.

Cheers

Your journey looks really intersting mate. I'm definetely looking forward to see your upcoming content.

I would have an observation for your content though. Try to add some photos although there was not the case or at least a delimitation between paragraphs using <hr> line or stuff like that.

The writing to photo ratio is a really important aspect from my point of view in making an article look light and easy to read for a new user. I also advise checking up to this link where you can find more about editing in steemit blog posts. Also, a lot of HTML lines apply like adding a photo next to the text or 1 photo in the left and 1 in the right and stuff like that.

Steem on!

Thank you very much! And thanks for all the tips, I'll definitely consider them for my next steem posts!
