What Is Blocklord?
Blocklord is a new crypto-game where planet Earth is up for sale. You can acquire, own and personalize any location on Earth. Build your own personalized blocks with what matters to you, or make ETH by flipping blocks.

**How Does It Work? **
There are two ways you can use Blocklord. The easiest by far is to use the website with an Ethereum enable browser (Brave browser or Chrome/Firefox/Opera with Metamask).
However as it lives on the blockchain, you can interact directly with the Smart Contract at this address: https://etherscan.io/address/0x618bb37e5644da4946f052c50d7819f95d327c8b

How can I own a block?
There are 3 ways to own a block.

  1. If the block has never been occupied before, you can simply buy it for the base price.
All blocks have the same base price 0.02 ETH, but some might have a higher longer term value, which is worth keeping in mind.
Due to the buyout mechanic, if you are confident that your new block might be bought out, you might decide to overpay for the block, that way your profit would be bigger if you get bought out. Though, could be a risky move!
  2. You can buy a block from somebody who is willing to sell. In this case you can simply click on 'Buy block' and send them the amount of Ether required, together with your new customization of the block to become the new owner!
  3. Buyout mechanic???
If you REALLY REALLY REALLY want a block that is not currently up for sale. To avoid squatting the blocks, you can buy the owner out, by paying double the price they paid for the block. An offer that they cannot refuse!

One thing worth noting is that while a block is let to a tenant, the tenant can not be evicted, so you will own the block and your details will become available straight after the tenancy expires.

What do I need to play?
You don't need anything special to simply browse Blocklord and share all the bizarre things you may find. However if you want to start playing there are a couple of requirements.
To start using Blocklord, we suggest to use Chrome with the Metamask extension.
Blocklord will detect your account and all you have to do is to top it up with some Ethereum to start interacting with the world.

**Block what? **
Blocklord is a digital world built on the Blockchain. You can own a piece of real estate and customize it to your liking. The cool thing is that once it is on the Blockchain, it is yours forever and can not be taken away...that is, unless somebody buys you out, in which case you make a tidy profit ;)
You can leave your mark on the place where you were born, where you proposed to your sweet half, or your office space. In addition you can make some real world money if other users or companies are interested in advertising in the blocks that you own. If you set them up for rent, other users can pay you for customizing the block how they want for a limited amount of time.
Does it cost money?
If you just want to browse and see the cool marks others have left, it is free.
If you want to own land however, you do need ETH to start climbing your digital property baronage. Takes money to make money, yo!

How do the devs make money?
Blocklord makes money from the initial sale of the blocks, as well as taking a 4% commission for each trade.

Can I withdraw my Ether?
Of course you can! In order to lower transaction fees and for added security, Blocklord uses a "pull" model.
What that means is that the Ether is not sent to you directly each time there is a transaction, but rather you need to click the withdrawal button to get the Ether sent to you in bulk.

How can I sell a block?
As you can imagine by now, there are two ways to sell a block. An active, and a passive way. The active way is quite straighforward, you want to sell a block you own and you set a sale price for the block, the buyer comes in, sends ETH to your account and the deal is done. Blockchain Powered™ The passive way, can be a bit counter-intuitive but is here to keep market balance. If your block is not for sale, but somebody really wants to acquire it, they can buy you out. Buyouts require a good compensation, so the buyer has to pay double what you paid for the block, which you will receive straight in your account.

**How can I rent a block? **
If you are a blocklord who wants to make money out of the blocks owned, you can set them up for rent. Go to your block and click the rent button, define a daily price and off you go, they are up on the market! If the block is available for rent, simply click on the rent button and select the number of days you want to rent the block for, up to 30 days. Why are transactions slow? Blockchain technologies are really new stuff. Like piping hot...stuff. Straight out of the oven. This means that not everything is as efficient as it should be yet, but a lot of work is been done to speed the network up, if you want to have your transactions go through quicker, you might want to increase the gas price in your Metamask window, but that can get costly!

**How can I update the content of one of my blocks? **
As the owner of the block you can of course customise the content of your block multiple time. Simply navigate to your block and click on the change content button :)

What is that "Do Not Click!" button?

Well, who is a curious bee? It says do not click for a reason. It can be very dangerous, and nobody will know where you could end up by clicking it!... ... Ooops, too much info.
