According to a survey conducted by Capgeminimost millionaires have a keen interest in the cryptocurrency industry as an investment and store of value. The survey revealed that 29% of wealthy people have a strong inclination for virtual currencies despite the skepticism of wealth management companies

A growing interest for crypto-currencies

Capggemini is a giant of consulting, technology and outsourcing services. The company, based in France, published the results of its investigation in the report World Wealth Report 2018 (WWR).

Among more than 2,600 wealthy individuals in 19 major wealth markets in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, many have expressed interest in cryptocurrencies.

29% of the survey participants were extremely interested compared to 26.9% moderately attracted by the concept and potential return on investment and value reserve of cryptocurrencies.

71% of millionaires aged 40 and under attach great importance to information on the subject. On the other hand, only 13% of the wealthy aged 60 and over are concerned about it.

High net worth individuals turn to their advisors

Most wealth management companies have not ventured into the digital currency industry yet. Barely 34.6% of the wealthy respondents were informed by their wealth manager.

The main reasons why the wealth management industry stays away from crypto-currencies lie in regulatory uncertainty and lack of security.

However, the enthusiasm of wealthy young people is changing the game. Managers may be forced to analyze the subject in the months to come.

According to Capggemini's report:

"While regulatory uncertainty and prudence are preventing cryptocurrencies from entering the wealth management industry, the strong demand for crypto-currency information from wealthy young HNWIs should force heritage to develop and offer a positive outlook in the months to come. "
