21st Century Collectibles
21st Century Collectibles
Think back to when you were a kid in school and how fun and exciting it was to collect and swap football stickers with your friends, each and every year when a new magazine came out you’d nag your parents for a new pack of stickers trying to collect every player. This must have cost our parents a fortune to have a magazine full of footballers faces which in reality is fairly worthless, BUT...it was fun and a great sociable experience to own a collection.
Fast forward 20 years and kids are still collecting, playing and swapping collectibles on the school playground but the biggest change is, its more of a digital era now so a lot of collectibles are of a digital sort, whether they are won from someone or bought as an add on for a game or bought specifically. The problem with this though, is that you don't actually own anything, the item is stored on someone else's server somewhere and if their server gets wiped or hacked then your item disappears forever. These collectible items can cost a lot of money and with the total market at around $370 billion, this isn’t an ideal or secure method of storing your collectibles.
Gamedex is a project that is aiming to solve this problem with the use of blockchain technology. The blockchain is a big network of servers so nothing can get wiped or lost, it is virtually unhackable and you can get free secure online wallets where you can actually store your owned collectible items.
Gamedex Store will let you find and play games which use your collectibles, play for fun, or wager tokens for a chance at riches.
Gamedex Exchange will allow you to buy and sell digital collectibles and also trade directly with other collectors.
With Gamedex on the blockchain, you can truly own your digital collectible items, limited edition means exactly that, extra’s cant be reproduced and counterfeiting is impossible.
