[SPLB] SimpleBank: A Beginner's Guide to Mining SPLB in 5 easy steps (For NVIDEA GPUS and Windows 10)

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

About SimpleBank:

SimpleBank is a very new masternode/PoW cryptocurrency. (Mining started on May 6, 2018)

Specs from the announcement bitcointalk thread:

"
Name : SimpleBank
Ticker : SPLB

Blocktime : 180 s
Block 2 to 499 : 1 SPLB / block
Block 500 to ∞ : 12 SPLB / block
Target spacing : 5 Block

Masternodes collateral : 2 000 SPLB
Masternodes reward : 65 % / block
Presale price : 0.000225 BTC / SPLB

Max supply : 21 000 000
Premine : 1.047 %
"

The idea behind this coin is a rather ambitious plan to provide a service in countries worldwide that merchants, hotels, etc. can adopt that would allowing them to convert cryptocurrency into local currency for customers. Further details will hopefully come soon with the whitepaper next week.

The devs have just yesterday released a development road-map (schedule). Along with a timeline for the development of their app and other goals, it says the whitepaper is expected in 5 days (May 23, 2018).

(You can find the road-map in their discord channel. https://discord.gg/54ppmKp
There you can also find the most up-to-date information and as well as support for the coin from their friendly and growing community.)

A Side Note for AMD Users:

This guide is intended for nVIDEA cards and we will be using CCminer, however, from the CCminer README it says:

"some of these coins have a VERY NOTABLE nVidia advantage over competing AMD (OpenCL Only) implementations."

This suggests that this miner could potentially work for AMD cards with the this algorithm but I am not sure how effective they would be using this miner so I cannot endorse this as I do not have an AMD card to test it myself.

Mining SPLB:

Mining Simple is very straightforward and is basically the same to set up as other neoscrypt algo coins, so this guide is intended for those newer to mining who might just need a quick walk-through for setting up mining with this algorithm.

We will need two things to mine Simple; a program to do the mining for us: for this we will use CCminer, and also a wallet to store our mined coins; we will use the SimpleBank GUI wallet.

(We also need a pool but I will provide the steps to setting up the miner with arcpool and it can always be changed to another afterwards.)

Let's get started!

1 - Download a SimpleBank wallet

You can find the SimpleBank wallet download here:
https://github.com/Simplebankdev/Simple./releases

(or find it from the announcement thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3563816.0)

For 64-bit Windows download: "SimpleBank-windows-x64-1.0.0.0.zip"

For 32-bit Windows download: "SimpleBank-windows-x86-1.0.0.0.zip"

Once the download is finished, extract the contents to a folder wherever you would like to store your wallet file and blockchain.

2 - Get your SimpleBank address

Open up the extracted folder and double on simple-qt.exe to open it (this is the application that you will use to access and transact with your SimpleBank wallet).

It will automatically generate a new wallet.

The first thing to do is to set a strong password for your new wallet.
Click on "Settings -> Encrypt Wallet" and choose a password.

Then click on the "Receive" tab in the wallet.
Click the "Request payment" button and it will generate a receiving address for you.
Copy this address somewhere like a blank text file so we can use it later to set the miner to pay to your wallet.

3 - Download CCminer

Make sure to disable real-time protection in Windows Defender before starting the download, and to make an exclusion in Windows Defender for the folder that you will extract it to. Once you have downloaded and extracted the files to the excluded folder, then remember to turn real-time protection back on, but only after it is extracted or moved into the excluded folder!!
(This is because Windows defender flags most mining programs as malicious just for having mining capabilities regardless if they are legitimate or not. If you don't disable real-time protection before downloading and make a folder exclusion Windows Defender can delete or block files necessary to run the miner.)

(Also, some browsers will block downloads of programs that can mine coins for the same reason, like Chrome. If you are using Chrome and it blocks the download, open "settings," scroll down to the bottom, and click "advanced". Uncheck "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites." Once the download is complete, remember to re-enable this setting!!)

CCminer can be downloaded here:
https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases

Windows 64-bit: ccminer-x64-2.2.5-cuda9.7z

Windows 32-bit: ccminer-x86-2.2.5-cuda9.7z

You will probably need 7zip to extract the file if you do not have it.
It can be downloaded here: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Extract it to documents or wherever you would like to save it, you can always make a shortcut to start the miner and put it on your desktop or wherever is convenient.

4 - Configure Batch File

Okay, last step!

In the CCminer folder, create a new notepad file.

Paste in the following:

ccminer-x64.exe -a neoscrypt -o stratum+tcp://eu1.arcpool.com:1128 -u SZdJPAJpEhNJ991RRGQW9MVvunaWVo5PT4
pause

Remember to replace my address with your address that you saved earlier, or else I will get all the coins you mine ;)

Make sure to save this file as a .bat file, it can be named anything you like, e.g. "start.bat".
When saving, click "Save As" and you have to change under "Save as type", from "Text Documents" to "All Files."
I would suggest making a shortcut to this .bat file so you can start it easily from your desktop or wherever is convenient for you.

4b - Choose a Pool (Optional)

Spreading the hashrate across different pools is a good thing, and it is also generally a good idea to find a pool geographically closer to you to lower the latency when mining.

A list of pools for Simple can be found here in the bitcointalk announcement
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3563816.0

Simply replace the eu1.arcpool.com:1128 in the batch file with the relevant address and port of the pool you want to use. Some pools might require a password, if they do simply add a " -p {pass}" after your address in the batch file. (Replace {pass} with the given password, don't leave the brackets in. Make sure there is one space between everything in the batch file except the "pause" should just be on the second line to avoid errors with the miner)

5 - DONE!

Simply double-click your batch file or shortcut to it to start mining.
It should take a few seconds to start up and then start mining pretty quick.

To keep up to date on your mining progress, check out your mining stats on your pool's website.
For arcpool go here:
https://arcpool.com/

Click on the "Wallet" tab.
Enter your receiving address that you saved earlier, and it will show you have much SPLD you have earned so far. This balance should start automatically paying to your wallet periodically.

That's it, you are done!!
