Blockchain technology in the medical sector

in #crypto6 years ago (edited)

The medical or health sector is one that is very contributory to the continuous growth and development of any society. Even from the ancient times, when the medicinal approach was basically through direct natural sources, the society still gave quite a high regard for the various diviners or herbalists as the cases were.

A good health system would help reduce mortality rates in the various societies. Most of the other sectors in a society (political, economic, social and financial) are ultimately driven by and ultimate drivers for a better health system. This simply means that once a health sector regresses, the other societal structures likewise grind to a complete halt in progress.

In order to improve various health sectors, it is pertinent to conduct valid and reliable research to improve practices and also foresee control mechanisms for emerging diseases. Although, research has actually been conducted over the years in various societies, there is still a high probabilty of sampling error.

This is where MediBloc comes in.

MediBloc

MediBloc is a blockchain system that would help service the medical sector. It runs on a system that is designed in such a way that the information bank of patients is not centralised. The control of the patients' information lies in the hands of those patients themselves. This is advantageous in a number of ways.
First, the system would be prone to less distortions. The probability of a network being hacked is very high in centralised systems as the hackers would just need to find the server. However, medibloc runs a decentralised system for which the patients can update their information and determine what is to be done with it. This is a great advancement for the health sector. Apart from the research side to this, individuals privacies are protected as they should. It equally helps protect individuals from public damage and redeems trust in the health sector.
Second, the patient would also get a token for parting with their personal information and they get to select who they share their information with. Researchers exchange tokens like MED and MEDX for the data they need to foray more into health waters. This brings forth two advantages as patients get some money for trusting the medical sector. Likewise, the patients feel part of the process that helps keep them safe and alive.
At this stage, it would only be wise to examine the systems that were formerly in place in various health sectors and how this new development help plug all those loop-holes.
Initially, most hospitals maintain the manual system of collecting information in form of papers and prints. The major problems that are encountered with this system are that the files could get missing or stolen or burnt in a fire and that the movement of the files from one hospital to the other would prove very difficult.
Some hospitals stepped up a bit and use a centralised and computerised system. The major issue with this system is that it is prone to hacks and that the whole hospital records can easily get shutdown as there is a singular control.
Medibloc solves the two problems above by advancing a decentralised and equally computerised system. Its very secure setup helps like-wise.
In totality, it has been proved that Medibloc is a great addition to the health sector as this would have a positive ripple effect on the world at large.
