As early as fifteen years of age, Jeffrey has been actively involved in profitable trading. His most notable trading investment at that age was the conversion of $5000, the sum of all his life savings, into gold. This was in 1971, by 1974, three years later, his investment had grown by a whooping 5000%!
You can bet he simply devoted his future life to trading and investment. Jeffrey Wernick weaned his trading career at high profile places like CBOE, CBOT and CME, trading options and futures. Upon his graduation from University of Chicago, where he bagged degrees in finance and economics, he proceeded to Salomon Brothers to hone his skills. He later left Salomon Brothers for National Bank of Detroit. After an 18-month stint at NBD, Jeffrey launched his own company, AVI Portfolio Services Company, Inc., which he later sold to a large insurance company dealing in diversified financial interests.
By 1984, Jeffrey Wernick had transitioned to venture financing and technology. Unlike other investors, Jeffrey’s focus was on ailing companies which he sought to provide resurrecting help. Currently, his investments is spread across several global sectors such as the sharing economy, mobile payments, lending platforms, biomedical/medtech and of course, blockchain and bitcoin.
Beyond independent private investing, Jeffrey Wernick’s expertise extends to advising governments on issues relating to pension reforms, financial sector, tax policy and economic legal reforms.
One would expect that such a rare gem would be acting as advisors to countless blockchain startups. Interestingly, only Qtum, towards the end of last year, have been able to snag the investment guru as a member of their advisory board. His valuable addition to Qtum due to his onboarding cannot be exhaustively discussed.
