Back to December 18, 2013 a guy with a nickname GameKyuubi, like many other nerds on a cold night was sitting alone in front of his computer . Bitcoin was dipping. He was a little drunk when he logged into Bitcointalk and posted some rather enjoyable content which was titled “I AM HODLING”. He mistyped the title, but after multiple attempts to correct the error,he gave it up.It didn’t take long for fellow bitcointalkers to jump on his post with comments, laughs, and funny memes. BTC miners and traders joined GameK’s advice and commented that they were going to “HODL” as well. It was how the first crypto slang was invented.

In this article I'm going to explain some popular crypto-blockchain terms and abbreviations.

HODL/HODLING
Hold indicates: Do not sell. Originally being a typo, it has become an acronym — hold on for dear life.

ATH
All Time High

Bagholder
A holding trader after a cryptocurrency has desreased significantly .

Bearish
Expectation price is going to DECREASE.

Bullish
Expectation price is going to INCREASE.

BTFD
Buy at The F***ing Dip!

Flippening
The change in price of an altcoin, where it would no longer be primarily based on the price of BTC

FOMO
Fear Of Missing Out

FUD
Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt

Lambo
Short for Lamborghini.

Moon
A large increase in value.

Nocoiner
A person that owns no cryptocurrencies.

Noob
A new person to crypto/gaming.

OCD
Obsessive Cryptocurrency Disorder

Pump & Dump
Cycle of growth and fall in prices.

Rekt
Wrecked

SAFU
Safe As “FU**.

Shill
Annoying and unnecessary advertising

ShitCoin Cryptocurrencies with no inherent value.

Spoofing
When a person buys and sells to himself in a set range to create the illusion of volume.

Whale
A person who owns a lot of Cryptocurrency.
