CRIPTOCELEBRIDADES CALL TO SUPPORT ROUND OF DONATIONS FOR VENEZUELAN
The exchange and deposit operator of cryptocurrencies AirTM is carrying out a cryptocurrency campaign called AirdropVenezuela. This initiative seeks to distribute $ 1 million among the Venezuelan users of its platform, as a way to help them tackle the difficult economic situation in the country.
Some celebrities from the ecosystem have already joined the initiative and have actively encouraged other members of the community to donate cryptocurrencies for this purpose. Such is the case of Roger Ver, one of the main leaders of Bitcoin Cash and Zokoo Wilcox, CEO of Zcash.
In the case of Ver, taking advantage of Reddit Bitcoin Cash, reported that donations made through Bitcoin.com will also be awarded to Airdrop, so that all contributions made between Monday and Tuesday would have double effect. Wilcox celebrated Ver's decision. He also assured that it is a noble cause, commenting and publicizing this activity through his own Twitter account, inviting the community to participate.
"First of all, every penny / satoshi / zatoshi that you donate goes directly to a Venezuelan. This is the best way to help people, instead of sending food, shoes or insulin or whatever, because what if you send them food but need shoes or send shoes but need insulin? In this way, you send them money and use it to buy what they need most. Free markets are the best humanitarian aid system that humanity has designed so far, "Zooko wrote in the Zcash forum.
Another important character of the community that referred to this Airdrop was Matt Odell, developer who urged to be careful with this campaign, because, despite its apparently altruistic intentions, it also includes a lucrative scheme for the AirTM platform.
According to its website, the main objective of AirdropVenezuela is to send 1 million dollars through cryptocurrencies to 100.00 Venezuelan users of the platform. The donations were opened on November 27, and, according to AirTM, the weekly distribution of the funds will begin at the end of February. The platform accepts donations in BCH, AirUSD, ZEC, BTC, DASH, XLM, XRP, ETH, ETC, LTC, ZEN, KMD and Burst. At the time of writing this note, 113,140 dollars have been collected in crypto-tons, and 25,042 registered Venezuelan users.
Recall that at the end of August the company reported the collection of $ 7 million in a round of financing, capital that will be invested in improving its services in hyperinflationary markets such as Venezuela.
