Crypto Mining Hardware & Applications I Use to Profit 800%+ to Electricity Cost
Three months ago I decided to invest and build a crypto coin currency mining computer aka Rig. My first decision was to choose the most profitable crypto coin to mine, and I found that mining Ethereum aka Ether was going to be the most profitable. I started with an extensive research to find the best and most cost effective hardware to invest into that would be the most profitable mining ETHER to my initial investment and electricity costs. I spent over a week extensively researching online by reading and watching online articles and videos of people stories about their hardware and experiences of mining ETHER. After three months of researching, building my mining rig, and mining Ether I am able to write this article with confidante and actual real life results. I bought all of my parts from Amazon as I have the prime membership and to make it easier to return items if not needed. I will list all the items I purchased from Amazon...
My Ethereum mining Rig is currently mining with 10 Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 570 4GB GPUs on 2 PSUs. It is mining Ethereum at a rate of 295.7 Mh/s, and mining 0.90989 Ether a month USD conversion $930.405 per month. When Ethereum was at $1,400 my Rig was mining around $1,300 a month. Mining Ethereum profit varies to its market price and mining competition difficulty increase as more people join in mining Ethereum. The mining difficulty increase gets offsets as Ethereum price increases. Soon my mining Rig is about to pay itself off and it is mining at 800+% profit to electricity cost. My Rig is using around $100 to $130 of electricity monthly, and currently mining around $930.000 monthly, which gives me a profit of around $800 a month at the current Ethereum price and hash rate...
Disclosure: Some of the links on this article are affiliate links. I decided to write this article to help other people learn and get into mining crypto currency. I want our crypto currency mining community to grow and strengthen by sharing knowledge and uniting against the forces that want crypto currency and the blockchain technology to fail. If you decide to built your own mining Rig and buy the hardware through the links in this article is greatly appreciated, and if you don’t that is great too :) I will be writing more detailed articles about mining crypto coin currency…
Graphics Processing Unit [GPU]
The GPU is the most important hardware that will defy the profit margins of your initial build and running cost investment. There are hundreds of GPUs in the market to chose and buy, but only a select few make the most profit mining crypto coins. The wrong GPUs are costly to buy, and be less efficient in electricity to Ether mining hash rate. The right GPUs can be less costly to buy, and be the best cost effective and efficient in mining Ether or any other crypto coins. I chose to go with and buy 6 Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 570 4GB GPUs:
Sapphire 11266-14-20G Radeon NITRO+ RX 570 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E Graphics Card
Power Supply Unit [PSU]
Second most important hardware is the PSU. GPUs will be the main power consuming hardware in your rig. The PSU needs to have good power rating, and be capable of producing more than enough electricity to power the GPUs and mining Rig. The wrong PSU can produce low or bad power to the GPUs and the Rig itself which can make your Rig unstable, and possibly damage you hardware. The right PSU should have output good power rating, and produce more than enough electricity to power you crypto mining Rig. I chose to go with and buy 1 EVGA SuperNOVA 1000:
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3, 80 Plus Gold 1000W, Fully Modular Power Supply 220-G3-1000-X1
Main Circuit Board [MCB] aka Motherboard
The Motherboard also important hardware on a crypto mining Rig, choosing the right mother board that will be the most stable with multiple GPUs and have enough PCI slots to plug in all of the GPUs. I chose to go with and buy ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ 13GPU:
SRock H110 Pro BTC+ 13GPU Crypto Currency Mining Motherboard
Random Access Memory [RAM]
RAM is not as important as the GPU, you just have to have the right memory type to match the motherboard, and have enough memory to run the mining Rig with the multiple GPUs. I first tried the Ballistix 4GB RAM DDR4, but found out the memory was being utilized at 80% to 90% at times which made my Rig unstable. I than upgraded to Ballistix 8GB RAM DDR4:
Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) SR x8 DIMM 288-Pin Memory - BLS8G4D240FSCK
Central Processing Unit [CPU]
The CPU is not as important, as the GPUs will do all the work of mining Ether or other crypto coins. The CPE has to have the same socket type as the motherboard, in my build socket 1151. I went with Intel Pentium G4400:
Intel BX80662G4400 Pentium Processor G4400 3.3 GHz FCLGA1151
Hard Disk Drive [HDD] or Solid-State Drive [SSD]
You can run your Rig on a regular HDD, but its best to buy a SSD as it will speed up the Operating System installation process, and give you much faster boot-up time when you need to restart your Rig. I wanted to buy a fairly inexpensive SSD that had more than enough storage, and plugs tight into the ASRock H110 Pro motherboard. I swapped out the HDD and went with and bought Silicon Power 120GB:
Silicon Power 120GB M55 M.2 2280 SSD
Peripheral Component Interconnect [PCI] Risers
PCIe to PCI raiser cards are used to extend the PCIs slots to the GPUs. There are a few different PCI risers, but I went with these risers as I have the option to use Molex, 4Pin, or SATA to deliver power to them.
PCIE Riser 1X TO 16X Graphics Extension for GPU Mining Powered Riser Adapter Card
Mining 4U Server Case
You can make your own crypto mining Rig frame, but I decided better protect the hardware I invested in. I decided to build my rig in Rosewill 4U Server Chassis RSV-L4500, the server case needs a little modification for the 6 GPUs, but it is simple. I will write an step by step article here on steemit of how to modify the Rosewill 4U Server Chassis RSV-L4500 for 6 GPU mining:
Rosewill RSV-L4500 4U Server Chassis / Server Case / Rackmount Case
Electricity Usage Monitor [EUM]
It is important to monitor the power usage of the mining Rig to know what your electrical costs are, and to know your profit margins. You can tweak your GPUs to run more efficient, so there is room for power usage improvement. I went with:
Electricity Usage Monitor Power Meter Plug Home Energy Watt Volt Amps KWH Consumption Analyzer with Digital LCD Display Overload Protection
Operating System [OS]
You can use any version of Windows OS or even use Linux based ethOS to run your Rig and mining application. I first installed and ran my rig with Windows 7, but wasn’t that stable running 6 GPUs. I upgraded the OS to Windows 10, which made my rig stable. I think it is because AMD has better drivers for Windows 10.

Crypto Coin Currency Wallets
You need to have a crypto coin wallet to send to the Ethereum or whatever coin you mine. I found and use Coinomi & Jaxx Crypto wallet to be best for me as they both have many different coin wallets, and easy to send and receive coins. I find Coinomi easy to use, secure, fast, open-source, and has Shapeshift & Changelly built in to help you exchange your Ethereum to other crypto coins, but it is only available on Android and soon for Apple iPhone. Jaxx wallet also has multiple crypto coins wallets and has Shapeshift built. Jaxx is available on Android, iPhone, Chrome extension, and Windows Desktop.

Nanopool Crypto Mining Pool
You can mine crypto coins independently, but to get consistent income its best you join and use mining pools. I tested a few different mining pools, I went with Nanopool because I like that its open-source pool and they mining fees are fairly low. Nanopool is fairly easy to setup, I also like their web interface.

Claymore-Dual Miner
I tried a few mining applications, but found Claymore-Dual-Miner to be the most efficient and give me the best profit mining Ethereum. I tried dual mining Ether & SIA Coin with Claymore-Dual-Miner, but the power consumption was higher than just single mining Ethereum. I calculated the profit margins of dual mining and single mining, and single mining Ether gave me the best returns.
