Bitcoin prepaid card expansion...

With Bitcoin price rising above $2,200 the original cryptocurrency seems to be going from strength to strength. We are at the dawn of a new area and as banks and governments try to make sense of cryptocurrencies the likes of Bitcoin and Ethereum surge forward. The accessibility of Bitcoin has been a problem and it can put a lot of people off of the idea of investing. 

Enter Bitpay, this is a prepaid Bitcoin card that you can top up and then spend the coins as Euros, British pounds or US Dollars at merchants around the globe.

Previously, Bitpay has only been available in a few countries but following the announcement today (22nd May) they are opening up the platform to 131 countries, this is a bold move that has seen setbacks in the past but the companies partnership with Visa should ease the difficulties of this ambitious goal. 

Bitpay claims that it has 15,000 user in the Us alone and they have a waiting list of over 20,000 who have asked for the product. This will undoubtedly make Bitcoin more usable but it doesn't really solve the problem of accumulating the popular coin. The company has been around since 2011 and is to date the longest running Bitcoin startup, it is clearly here to stay.
