Bitcoin Already Generates Battles in Divorce

in #crypto7 years ago

There are already several cases of divorces that have crypto-coins in the division of property list. And lawyers are issuing alerts: they detail the assets, including this type of assets so that no one is harmed in a divorce process. More cases that call for the regulation of crypto-coins.

There are three divorce cases that are running in British courts where the couples are trying to balance the Crypto.

All cases involve a husband who bought crypto-coins: there are bitcoins, litecoins, ripples, and ethereum.

In one case, the husband invested 80,000£ in November 2016. After firing, this investment was worth 1M £ in December. And it is currently valued at about 600,000 pounds.

In a second case, an investment of 200 pounds was made, not being revealed by the press when the crypto-coins were bought. But newspapers say that this investment may have grown more than 10 times.

In a third case, the husband has refused to disclose such data, which is hampering the process.

Lawyers are already warning people to protect themselves in case of divorce.

British lawyers point out that the courts do not have any guide to follow, nor do the Justice Department indications of how to act.

Cryptos are being seen as a threat in divorce proceedings. If there is no legislation, and it is difficult to track this type of investment, there may be cases in which one of the spouses hides the amounts allocated in these assets, harming the other member of the couple.
