OCTOMINER RISERLESS 8 GPU MOTHERBOARD

Last month I ordered a few of these Octominer boards to try out and will be building multiple rigs in the near future. I have a small farm producing about 25 ksol of hashpower on equihash which translates into around $200 a day so it is an awesome passive income. As someone who has built multiple mining rigs, I can say the risers are one of the main points of failure. Yes they are fairly cheap and quickly replaced, but a bad riser can crash your miner in middle of the night and possibly lose hours of mining profit.

A new alternative to using risers are a few long riserless motherboards coming out of China and the Octominer is one of the newest examples with this being the first batch with the faster cpu shipped, while the slightly slower cpu model shipped 3 weeks ago. According to octomimers posts on reddit, they build their boards from scratch and are not just relabeled boards that many other brands use. Also unique to Octomimer (as far as I know) is the use of a mobile processor and mobile ram. This means the motherboard uses only a fraction of the power of a normal motherboard and claimed to be around 40 watts.

The obvious drawback to riserless motherboards is the spacing between cards and basically requires using thinner cards or cards without backplates to dissipate heat. The use of a 4u rack mount case with fans forward and aft pairs up nicely with this motherboard as it moves air quickly through the case. This providing excellent cooling for a compact rig, an ideal setup for someone looking for a first mining rig they can put in a garage or extra bedroom. I will post pictures and review the completed build when finished, but now I am on to the most difficult part, finding decent priced GPUs in an incredibly overpriced market.
