The Importance of Non-Crypto Related Content On Steemit

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

Hi, all! This is Biddle again and I wanted to talk about a topic that I consider important regarding Steemit, which is the posting of content that isn't related to cryptocurrency. While it is very important to include content about cryptocurrency to work toward its mass adoption, it is also important to make sure that that isn't all that is posted about. There is already a good mix, which is good to see and I hope that the trend continues and accelerates so that we see more and more varying topics on this site.

The reason is simple:

ATTRACTION

The goal of users of steemit and the admins, witnesses, and moderators should be to attract a larger and larger audience, a majority of which are likely not very interested in tech, nor interested much in crypto. To attract them the things we can write about are:

  1. The reward system and the incentive for joining and contributing, of course.
  2. A wide variety of non-tech/non-crypto related content, so that they are attracted to the site in general as a means of gathering information, navigating their daily life and media consumption (Facebook is heavily used and I think the fact that you can find anything there just adds to its success).

The more that we write about and flesh out subsections related to all topics, the more people we will be able to attract to the site and bring on board with the vision of Steemit and its benefits. I'd love it if there were 1,000,000 active Steemit users. That would be a beautiful thing, not to mention that everyone would benefit from it. It will help the crypto movement as well, which is something that is very dear to me, so I just want to make sure that we continue to support and celebrate non-crypto content, because it is a very important part of the platform.
