Bithumb hacked

​​On Saturday, March 30, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb suspended withdrawal and Deposit services. The platform's monitoring system has detected abnormal actions to withdraw cryptocurrency.

Representatives of the exchange apologized to customers for the delay in the service, and assured that all assets on the exchange are completely safe.

Dovey Wang, a partner of Primitive Ventures, noticed strange transfers from Bithumb Wallets. More than 3 million EOS coins (worth about 12.6 million dollars) left the wallet owned by the exchange:

Bithumb hacked at the storage level in EOS !!! More than 3 million EOS have been transferred. Details will be communicated and confirmed by the firm that conducts the Bithumb audit.

Later, Dovey Wang added that the theft occurred after the hackers took possession of the secret key Bithumb on the EOS blockchain. In addition, a list of exchanges where the stolen coins were transferred was presented. It includes Huobi, Cucoin, EXMO and others.
