CryptoBridge Insufficient BTS Balance Error - Solved By Steemit!

A few days ago, came across a rather annoying glitch in the CryptoBridge decentralized currency exchange that I had been using quite happily up till then.

Apparently, when a new CryptoBridge user account is set up, a small amount of the Bitshares BTS token is gifted to the CryptoBridge account to cover any exchange fees needed when trading one crypto currency to another. Unfortunately, after a few transactions the BTS runs out, and you get an error saying you have an insufficient BTS balance.

The problem is, there is no way you can buy BTS tokens within the account, and it took me a few Google searches, leading to a few different Reddit threads that discussed this issue. The most common solution seems to be to ask someone to send some BTS to you, or use an exchange like Binance to convert some bitcoin or other crypto to BTS, and then send it to your CryptoBridge username.

The problem was, I only had a tiny amount of Bitcoin left in my Binance account, not enough for the minimum amount needed to change it into BTS. So I was stuck. Grrr, big omission, CryptoBridge. Why don't you just let people buy some BTS when they need it?

Then I thought of the idea of transferring some Steem into my Binance account, as all my other funds are trapped in CryptoBridge due to the BTS balance error preventing crypto being sent out to an exchange that actually supports BTS.

But then I made a neat discovery. All I need to do is select Sell in my Steem wallet, which takes you to Blocktrades, and bingo, there is an option there to sell a small amount of SBD, and buy some BTS, sending it to the same username I use on CryptoBridge, which also happens to be a Bitshares username apparently. Problem solved, now I can get BTS for my CryptoBridge trades, any time I want, quick and easy.

So if anybody out there has this issue, and is also a Steemit user, you can use this fix.

I don't think many people know about cryptobridge and the flexibility it has for decentralised trading. You can also long into cryptobridge using your bitshares id and password as it runs on the same blockchain

Hello there, I just followed you :-)
Follow back and we can help each other succeed! @cryptobench

I have the same issue, the only problem is ive tried to withdraw my steem and it takes 3 days :(

Where are you trying to withdraw your Steem from? CryptoBridge? I was just sending a small amount as BTS to CryptoBridge to use for fees. It's a neat feature of Steemit - you can send other currencies from your Steem or SBD balance using Sell . I just used it to send some Bitcoin to CryptoBridge too. Very handy.

Yeah I’ve just gone through the motions, it seems fairly easy to do it that way. Thanks for the info 🙏

Awesome, it helped, thanx! Actually, when you press SELL button in Steemit Wallet, it redirects you to 3rd party trusted converter: https://blocktrades.us/unregistered_trade/sbd/bts

There is a 'cancel order faucet' Bot on their discord channel that will give you a tiny bit of BTS to jump start your transactions again.
