Straya Coin!
Computer Programmer and crypto currency enthusiast Jack Hurley from Bendigo, Victoria, created the "Straya Coin" and released it to be mined on Australia Day of this year.
The Coin total to be mined is 24,809,843, which was Australia's Population on Australia Day this year, the coins design has a beer can in the middle with Aussie quotes such as G'day Mate, Shrimp on the Barbie, your the voice and yeah nah yeah nah...
Hurley says he made the Straya Coin to be a fair dinkum peer to
Peer payment solution for the average Aussie, he is hoping the Straya Coin will be used to purchase Bunning snags, vegemite, Russel coit DVDs , and for mates to send between each other to pay back those backyard"cashies".
So far around 250,000 Straya Coins have been mined and Hurley hopes to some day see his coin in an exchange.
