AMA + Live Coin Interview with Eventchain.io
What technology solutions do you provide? We provide a ticketing solution to allow anyone to create events and sell tickets directly to the attendees, with no third party processing. Creating events through smart contracts on EventChain means that tickets are impossible to counterfeit and transaction costs are no larger than a few cents on the Ethereum network.
When the company was founded? The idea of building EventChain on Ethereum was conceived in the beginning of 2017 and we started expanding beyond the core team to include blockchain developers and international business advisors in the spring. EventChain SmartTickets Pte. Ltd. as a company was formally incorporated in Singapore on August 2017.
Why was the company founded? EventChain was founded to bring technology to artists and fans that allow them to develop a stronger connection between each other and to make transactions directly between artists and fan, avoiding third party processing fees and other transaction intermediaries.
Organization’s purpose: What we do, How do we do it, whom do we do it for, What value are we bringing? We connect artists with fans by allowing them to purchase SmartTickets directly from artists. they can confirm are legitimate tickets on the blockchain. We do all this using smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Each event is a a smart contract containing a finite amount of immutable smarttickets, transparent for fans to see. We do this primarily for the fans who often get the short end of the stick by paying way too much for tickets, get ripped off from a counterfeit ticket on the secondary market, or cannot get tickets at all because of bots and website issues.
We are bringing a medium for non-technical users to take advtantage of the Ethereum blockchain, enabling everyone to take advtangage of low cost trnasactions and imutable ledgers.
Scope of Operations: what kind of product or service do your provide? We provide a SmartTicketing system where artists, vendors, or promoters can create and manage their events on our system, selling tickets and eventually associated merchandise directly to fans using peer to peer blockchain transactions on Ethereum.
What is your future vision EventChain envisions an ideal world where everyone is able to attend events through the use of a more honest, transparent and accountable event ticketing system that provides additional benefits to event hosts and fans. We envision fans getting a ticket for anything, even minutes before the start of an event, with little to no hassle, through a secure system accessible to the whole world. With the power of EventChain and Ethereum, we will have that freedom.
History of the project The idea of building EventChain on Ethereum was conceived in the beginning of 2017 and we started expanding beyond the core team to include blockchain developers and international business advisors in the spring. EventChain SmartTickets Pte. Ltd. as a company was formally incorporated in Singapore on August 2017.
Motivation to develop the project We want to solve the current situation where fans pay too much for tickets, end up purchasing counterfeit tickets, or can’t get access to them easily. What makes your project unique and valuable? A project can only be as great as the team behind it.
What is your token. EventChain Token (EVC)
What is the token supply? 84 million tokens in circulation, 54.6 million in the ICO.
What is code base that your product is using React/Redux, Dailex CQRS/ES, and the Ethereum blockchain
What features does your program use The alpha already works on the Ethereum testnet with EventChain tokens. Alpha has web2 sidechain that allows people to create eventas and buy tickets without any logins to metask, web3 backend for perfoerming these same actions through smart contract code injection, and overall is a fully functioning Dapp for ticketing.
Who are your competitors and how are you superior to them Aventus and Blocktix mainly as blockchain competitors in the space. Aventus and BlockTix are trying to solve similar problems in event ticketing using the Ethereum blockchain, however Blocktix doesn’t have a working demo yet. As for the The Aventus demo, 8 transactions are required just to create an event… The EventChain Alpha serves the similar purposes with a factory and one transaction across a web2 sidechain, it streamlines the event creation and ticket buying process for laymans, and there is no need for third party plugins like metamask.
Beisde our Alpha, our team members have strong technical business backgrounds including a team with over 7 years of software development of a booking and business management system with signups from over 68 countries and a Board of Advisors with extensive international reach.
Is there any mining or staking involved with your coins. No. All tokens are minted at once and running on top of Ethereum.
What are the future plans for your project? Expand internationally and become the prominent disruptive force in the traditional ticketing industry.
What other services will be offered by your project or company in the future? Our main service will be to offer the platform where fans buy tickets for any type of event from event promoters and artists directly without the complexities and issues in traditional ticketing. We also plan to integrate the payment for other products and services found at events like concession, merchandise, and extras. We are also working on building a VR virtual box office into the shares per hour VR business network to purchase tickets and merchandise in VR.
What can we expect from the project in the next 6-12 months? We are working to produce a Beta application which integrates EventChain Tokens, Ether and/or fiat payment gateways on the mainnet for legitimate ticketing purchases. We will also be sponsoring and partnering with many Blockchain and cryptocurrency events on multiple continents.
What is your expected company profitability in 2018 Considering the application will not be operational for all 12 months of the year and significant upfront development costs are required, the company will likely incur a loss in the first year. Something very normal for a startup.
Expenses and current cost of operations The EventChain start-up and business operational costs include development fees and paying the coders, marketing fees, server and network fees, legal fees.
Does your token pass the howey test? EventChain legal representatives have already reviewed the EVC tokens and considered them to be a token with utility within the EventChain system and not a security under Singapore law through a formal legal opinion.
Growth strategy after the ICO.
Start with tech customers who understand Blockchain technology, are enthusiastic about change, and embrace cryptocurrencies and partner with them to use EventChain exclusively. Also, for event tickets artists like Imogen Heap and RAC who have already put their music on the Blockchain and are enthusiastic about the technology, alternative artists and bigger artists who are tired of the traditional fees structure.
What exchanges will this token be traded on? We are still in communications with exchanges. The goal is to have not only American exchanges, but also Japan and Korean.
How will you grow your market? International partnerships inline with the growth strategy above. Emerging markets will work well for us as event creators are looking for alternatvies from traditional ticketing.
What is the target demographic?
- Initially, we will target tech conferences, business meetings, corporate events, and niche markets which embrace innovative technology. Smaller events will be inclined to use EventChain for its cost savings compared to a large ticket retailer and technical advantages.
Do you have any active partnerships? EventChain SmartTickets has just announced a Corporate Ticketing Partnership with Sony backed ticketing platform iFlyer. iFlyer is one of Japan’s largest ticketing agents, is partnering with EventChain SmartTickets, bringing our blockchain SmartTickets system to event ticketing in Asia to benefit fans and artists. We are also working on transit ticketing partnerships in Africa.
What are the nature of these relationships and how are you utilizing or leveraging these partnerships? iFlyer does thousands of events per month and over 20,000 artists have been ticketed by iFlyer. Proving their reputation in Japan, they’ve expanded their business internationally. Partnering with EventChain SmartTickets to deliver Blockchain ticketing technology and EVC integration into their ticket services, EventChain will be utilized with iFlyer events to bring reliable ticketing to the Japan and the surrounding Asian countries it serves.
We are solving ticketing issues found predominantly in concert ticketing, our event ticketing software is planning partnerships that saves artists and vendors money in other event ticketing, public transit ticketing, airline ticketing and beyond. These other partnerships in Europe and Africa will utilize EVC tokens for ticketing for other events and transit systems.
What is vision for the company in the next 3-5 year plan? We are looking to penetrate into the open ticket market, not just concert tickets, although many of the ticketing problems we are solving are found in Music and Sports. Statista.com says that the worldwide market will exceed US$50 billion / year in tickets sales by 2021. We want to disrupt the event ticket industry with extensive worldwide marketing focused on the advantages of blockchain ticketing to increase the adoption of EventChain SmartTickets. Within 5 years, we want to facilitate a minimum of 750 million ticket sales a year which is 1.5% of the ticketing market share in 2021. In due course, we want to completely disrupt the current ticket industry with smart contracts on the blockchain.
