Crowdfunding in layman terms means a process whereby funds are raised by a large amount of people through the donation or investment of little amount of money by each of them usually through the internet and this is a business technique used by the cryptocurrency market for financing blockchain projects.

It has been estimated that close to 40 billion dollars have been raised since the year 2015 through crowdfunding and this alone is a standard proof of its importance.
