Great sugestion! I wonder if these Steemit promotion hotspots could be shared under steem payments too.
I will try to make some money (use the hopefully high income of this post) to buy a 1GB data pack tomorrow and just let the people connect to it until it runs out.
What exactly do you mean with steem payments and shared? Explain please :)
Just brainstomig but I thought that some Steemit identified hotspot could offer temporary passwords to people interested in connect through it. It could have different steem prices for each time period (1 hour, 1 day, etc) and negotiated in a specific Steemit username (like @steemwifinetwork), hashtag (like #steemwifinetwork) or channel in Steem chat. The other way, as you said, is using the steem collected in high income posts like this :-)
Absolutely amazing! Take over from here, I am the man of the idea but then it stops. Normally, lets change that. You mean to connect providers of wifi spots and make a deal with them? perfect. Should Steemit.com do that or maybe we together?

I was thinking in a more collaborativeand bottom-up way to share the hotspots, not necessarily envolving providers or even Steemit. We can propose the brand and basic rules of a steem based wi-fi sharing market, joining people interested in sell their connection time and people interested in buy it. One good reference could be the Fon Network in its beggining, they even sold a specific and configurated modem to people interested in sharing their hotspots. They made so success that Google bought it, but since them it lost that spirit of mobilization and collaborative grassroots approach.
This is the first time I hear about a wi-fi sharing market. I think that you are much more talented to do these things. When you tell me what to do I can help you for sure but thinking about it is not my strength. I can walk around and tell everyone about it or start thinking about new ideas and post them here.
I think sharing and selling the wi-fi is forbidden by the telecom operators, they can suspend the contract if the client do it. But cryptocoins are not full regulated yet, perhaps a lawyer can help using the right "words" to not configure the transaction with steem as a conventional selling :-) Thanks for your enthusiasm, I'll follow your future ideas posts and also share if any development of this Steem wi-fi network idea happens too.

Changed my home router to say that, so any of my friend come to my house will have to connect to it...lol, when it come to your own router, you can name your own wifi anything you want as far as i know.
