The cross over night from the 31st December to 1st of January

Happy new year dear steemians, God has been faithful to bless us with another year. Wish you guys a fruitful year as the year unravels.

Before observing the new year, I was opportune to witness the celebration of the cross over night. Cross over night is a normal yearly tradition where christian faithfuls allover the world gather in their respective worshipping grounds on the 31st December to joinly observe the start of the new year.

My crossover night was at Ndop, a small town in the Ngoketunjia division of the North West region of Cameroon. It was characterised by the following activities;

Mass from 7:30pm to 9:50pm. Mass is the highest form of prayer in the Roman Catholic church. After the mass praise and worship continued with the exposition of the blessed sacrament,

where christians sing, dance and rejoice as the year finally comes to an end. This activity lasted for about an hour

From 11pm to 11:45pm, a talk was given to Christians by an elder. He made Christian faithfuls to know that they got potentials to do and undo certain things in life, he encouraged them to forget the challenges they've gone through during the year and focus on the future.

As from 11:50pm, the congregation were asked to go out of the church and light their candles. After lighting our candles, we were called back into the Church at 12:00am. The movement back into the church with lighted candles symbolises leaving the old year into the new year in newness.
