Crossfit isn't REAL fitness
I mean...just look at those bodies...
()
Do you even lift ... BRAH's?
OR these TOTALLY NOT FIT chicks...
Like...set down the McDonalds and pick up a REAL sport, chubbies
...It's not like you all look like a bunch of spartan warriors or anything like that...
(Inserts spartan warrior picture for reference below)
Okay seriously now you guys...I should just say now that I am a HUGE proponent of Crossfit...
I literally sleep, eat, breathe it all day everyday. I. Love. Crossfit.
I'm writing now to plead my case for why it is a fantastic way to breed the next generation of weekend warriors, athletes, and ultra-fit human beings alike.
DISCLAIMER
I am not claiming that a powerlifter should do Crossfit to excel at powerlifting...
...Or that a sprinter like Usain Bolt should drop his career and join Crossfit...
What I AM saying, however ...
Is that Crossfit, as a methodology of fitness is the most comprehensive methodology of training ALL-AROUND fitness to date. And that anyone looking to simply optimize their health across all domains of fitness, should pursue that goal through the Crossfit methodology.
SO what exactly is Fitness and how the hell does Crossfit play into that and make you fit?
Fitness is defined as:
'the ability to carry out daily tasks with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to enjoy leisure-time pursuits and respond to emergencies.'
-Center for Disease control and Prevention (CDC)
Within the broad definition of fitness, there are 10 modal domains in which to very SPECIFICALLY measure your overall fitness
10 Domains of Fitness
So what Crossfit does is provides and tests a methodology for optimizing your performance across all 10 domains of fitness at once, so as to create the most functional and fit version of YOU
Crossfit as defined by the Founder Greg Glassman
"CrossFit makes use of three different standards or models for evaluating and guiding fitness. Collectively, these three standards define the CrossFit view of fitness. The first is based on the 10 general physical skills widely recognized by exercise physiologists. The second standard, or model, is based on the performance of athletic tasks, while the third is based on the energy systems that drive all human action"
So why am I writing this article
I decided that I wanted to put all of the confusion, argumentativeness and skepticism to rest through irrefutable science based definitions of fitness.
Among all of the controversy of people questioning the validity of Crossfit and whether it is simply a BS re-hash of working out, there is just too much talk and not enough DOING...
SO, I urge you to try Crossfit if you haven't and put your fitness to the test.
