The Remote Associates Test
The Remote Associates Test was designed to measure the ability to flexibly a freely associate ideas [Mednick and Mednick 1967]. The student is given three words and asked to find a fourth word that is related to the other three. The first three words may seem to have little or no similarity to each other. But all three are associated with the fourth. For example, what is related to these three words?
cookies sixteen heart
The answer is sweet. Cookies are sweet. Sweet is part of the phrase sweet sixteen. It is also part of the word sweetheart.
What is related to these three words?
poke go molasses
The answer is slow. Slow goes with each of the other words: slow poke, go slow, slow as molasses. The fourth word may be related to the other three for various reasons. The difficulty of this test can be adjusted by making one of the matched words one that is less closely related to the answer.

0 - 6 : Do not be sad it does not mean that you are not a creative person. Sometimes your thoughts depend on exterior circumstances (ie. noise) or you have headache and today is just not your day. Try to exercice your brain regularly, e.g. start by reading books. This may quickly improve your creativity and problem solving.
7 - 12: Congratulations to the good result! You have proved the ability of associating two unlike things. It is easy for you to find analogies between things, make metaphores etc. Go on and improve your brain skills.
13+ : Excellent! You are really creative person! You have developed the sense to associate two different things which look very different. This skill is useful in problem solving and you can find different solutions easily. Train your brain in order not to diminish.
