Design thinking
Hi Steemers!
You have probably heard about Design thinking, and you probably already have an opinion that it is either the best thing ever or that it's a waste of time. One thing is certain - companies swear that ,without it, they wouldn't be where they are, or would not even exist. Design thinking expert is an actual job and they sell their consulting services (at a high price) and help firms innovate and reach more.
Design thinking is a process for creative problem solving. By using design thinking, you make decisions based on what future customers really want instead of relying only on historical data or making risky bets based on instinct instead of evidence.
The best way to start is to gather a team. It is possible to do this on your own, but if there is more people, they change your perspective, they send your thoughts into another way and activate something that you would not be able to do on your own.
This is how the process goes:
Empathise - learn the problem and make it your own. Take your time, develop the best possible understanding of the users, their needs, and the problems that underlie the development of that particular product.
Define the problem - do it from a human centered manner, for example: "young women need to eat healthier food in order to get all the nutrients they need" instead of "sell 10% more food products to the segment young women"
Generate ideas - use any of the techniques to ideate (Brainstorm, Brainwrite, Worst Possible Idea, SCAMPER...), or make your own game that van motivate your team members and expand their capacity to think creatively.
Prototype and Test
In my opinion, the most fun part is to generate ideas. I love writing on post-its, making sketches, playing games and evaluating good ideas. A few post before I wrote about my strengths according to a very long and tedious quiz. One of my bess strengths is the appreciation of beauty and excellence. The job of a design thinking consultant sound extremely attractive to me.
