#needleworkmonday: a crcoheted hat
Today for #needleworkmonday I am showing you a hat I recently finished.
I made this hat from wool roving that I spun on my Ashford Kiwi.
Here it is being spun.
After spinning and making the hat I washed and blocked it. When it was finished drying I shipped it to a friend. I was quite happy with how it turned out.
I really like the contrast border @madame-malena.
What type of dyes do you use?
@cryptocariad hey! And thank you! Mostly jacquard acid dyes
I am amazed by all of you who spin your own yarn. Fantastic! Your hat turned out wonderful and I'm sure you have a happy friend. Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you!
Thank you so much! Happy #needleworkmonday to you too!
It is so cool to see the wool roving then the spun yarn! How long does it take to spin?
Thank you! It all depends on what weight i am spinning. It is 2ply so I spun 2 bobbins and then plied (spun) them together. The green ended up being slightly less than worsted weight. If I had to guess I would say around 4 hours total. Currently I am spinning sock weight and it is taking a lot longer!
It sounds so interesting. I bet it is so satifying to know you did all the steps that made the hat. It is for sure an art 💗
Your hat turned out very nice!! I love the neat and precise stitches! I think it’s Amazing that you can spin your own yarn! Have you checked out @luthvarian’s blog yet? She also posts for #NeedleWorkMonday and she spins her own yarn and as well as silk!!! I think you both would love each other’s work ;)
Thank you much! I will check her out!
Absolutely ;)
it turned out perfectly!
Thank you I appreciate it!
