Decorating Ginger Biscuits - 24 December 2024
Instead of doing what we set out to do, ie finish Cathy's Flower House, which I've written about here and here, we were distracted and entertained by this other kit.
I didn’t actually buy this Brunkagehjerter Heart-Shaped Cookies decorating kit which comes from one of my favourite shops, (Flying) Tiger. I put Flying in parentheses because we normally refer to this shop as Tiger. This is a Danish chainstore that you can see in many shopping areas and is characterised by offering a selection of modern looking ornaments and crafty kits at extremely reasonable prices. The biscuit decorating kit above was only £4 when bought or around 24 Steem. Now it’s discounted and you can still see it here.
I even found this You Tube video showing some of the products available this year :
The biscuits in the plastic box below were the survivors after the obligatory tasting and then we decided to have a go at decorating them before eating them all up:
The kit came with the ginger biscuits, the decorating colour gels, and some sprinkles.
That’s a close-up of one of the tubes with the characteristic logo of Tiger.
For my feeble attempt at decorating I chose two colours only, white and blue. Normally I would have been really enthusiastic but was very quickly disappointed by the lack of blue in my tube:
I’m sure you can appreciate what my intentions were when attempting to decorate my biscuit and my sad result. If you look at the photo below you will see how much worse it became after attempting to paint with the white gel :
I guess that biscuit decorating is definitely not one of my fortes or that the gel decided not to cooperate this time. Fortunately at least the ginger biscuit passed the tasting check !
I added some ready made bits to increase the crunchiness.
We had a great time doing this activity which does require some planning and skill. Despite my evident lack of decorating skills I wished to thank Steem for all the support this year in some way.
Thank you for reading !
