Hexed and my first gradient cake
And here is the finished magic😄
I'm really satisfied. A couple of weeks ago I wandered into my local yarn shop Atelyeah in Moenchengladbach to attend our knitting circle. As I was the first the charming owner Michaela showed me the new additions that were delivered during the week. Among those beautiful yarns were a gradient cakes from Scheepjes. In all the 30 years plus that I knit I never knitted a gradient cake before. So it was fairly easy to let myself be tempted to buy one. Especially easy as I knew exactly which shawl I'd knit. So the beautiful Green Tea Tiple went home with me a couple of hours later.
A short time afterwards I started the Hexed shawl by Rose Beck complimenting the Green Tea Tiple with Drops Yarn Cotton Merino which was quickly amended to Baby Merino as the Cotton Merino was to heavy.
And I kind of addicted to knitting this shawl because I always wanted to knit until the next colour change. And the next and the next. 😉 So other projects turned into sleeping wips.😯😄
The gradient is done very smoothly and I'm deeply satisfied how beautiful it plays out.
And all of a sudden a couple of weeks and 1331 metres later the shawl is finished. I had to improvise a bit towards the end as the pattern is written for a Sport yarn and I used fingering. I added more stitches and some more hexed stripes.
On the pictures I combined it with a dress made by Atelyeah as well and I think they match perfectly.
More pictures, the exact yarn usage and of course the pattern can be seen on my Ravelry project page.
I'm already swatching for my next project. Yes indeed in addition to traditional vest I wrote about here
Have a beautiful sunny summer weekend everybody.
Lots of love
Anja
Wow, it looks amazing! Heißen die Bobbel im Englischen Gradient Cake? Ich habe nämlich den Namen dafür gesucht und nix gefunden.
By Scheepjes heissen die Whirl.
Haha. Kreative Lösung. Gute idee
You have some serious talent - i LOVE this shawl!!
Thank you very much for your compliment 🌷
Wow that is beautiful - well done!
Thank you very much.🌻
That is just gorgeous - well done!
Such a beautiful and soft looking shawl @alabastercraftin! I have a passion for crocheting but plan to learn how to knit one day. I am making an initiative to share the art of needlework here on Steemit and come together with other crafters as we support each other. It certainly makes a difference when people with the same interests work together. Would you take the time to read my post about #NeedleworkMonday? I sure hope you will join us as we share these wonderful needlework talents with everyone and inspire each other. Thank you for your time. 😊
